Who Are Caregivers?

Caregivers are independent contractors who are equipped to provide care, and a secure environment for individuals with varying medical, physical, and or mental challenges.

Caregivers can be a family member or non-family member.

Caregivers have the opportunity to take advantage of extra room(s) within their houses or apartments in an effort to make a difference in the lives of persons in need.
-
They are also able to earn competitive tax-free stipends for their efforts and receive Alternate Care Services (Respite) which allows them to have time away for an evening or vacation.

Caregiver Requirements

Must be 18 or older and able to safely perform caregiving duties and Adult Foster Care services.

Provide physician clearance confirming ability to meet the caregiver role expectations.

Be a relative, friend, or community member willing to live with the member/client and provide the needed care. *A Caregiver cannot be a member’s/client’s spouse or legal guardian.

Follow the member/client's personalized care plan and provide supervision, assistance, and hands-on support, Caregivers must ensure the AFC member’s/client’s safety and well-being at all times.

Complete required CORI and sex-offender background checks.
In addition...
-
Provide a stable home setting (owned or rented) that is clean and in good shape.

Provide and prepare daily meals and snacks.

Provide private bedroom with a window and door for each member/client.
